Fundraiser for Mindy Wallace

Hi, my name is Lori Tiegen, and I'm fundraising for Mindy Wallace, my sister-in-law. Mindy is married to my brother and has two beautiful daughters.

Mindy's journey started in June of 2021 when she noticed a lump in her left breast. Due to the size and the pain, she decided to see a doctor. The doctor told Mindy that it was nothing to worry about because he believed it to be a fibroid tumor as she has had them in the past. However, Mindy still asked if she needed a mammogram and was told no.

Fast forward to December 2022. The lump had grown significantly and was now very painful, so Mindy got a second opinion. Immediately the doctor ordered a mammogram, and she was sent to Duluth to have an ultrasound and some biopsies done. Before leaving her appointment, the doctor told Mindy that she was 99% sure she had breast cancer, but the biopsies would confirm it. Finally, after four excruciatingly long days and a whirlwind of emotions, she got the dreaded news, "You have an invasive, aggressive form of breast cancer, and it's spread to your lymph nodes."

Due to testing positive for the HER2 Mindy will begin taking two medicines and six rounds of two different types of chemo starting this week. The chemo treatments will be in Virginia, and if everything goes well, she will hopefully be finished sometime in May. The next step for Mindy after chemo is a double mastemcomy, followed by radiation that will take place in Hibbing.

With many upcoming appointments, procedures, surgery, travel expenses, and Mindy being out of work, we would like to help take some financial burden off her and her family. A donation would help Mindy through this challenging time in her life.
