Fundraiser for “Moving Forward” Heart Sculpture
Donation protected
Tomahawk Elementary, our wonderful little school in Overland Park, KS, has BIG heart! As you probably have noticed, over the summer a special piece of local art popped up in front of our school.
Because of the excitement for local art shared with our students by our dear art teacher, Beth Hafner, many Tomahawk students got excited about the Kansas Parade of Hearts, snapping pictures in front of the heart sculptures around the city. And now thanks to a small group of Tomahawk Elementary staff and families, everyone in the Tomahawk community can enjoy the art and history of our city proudly displayed in front of our school.
Here’s where we need your help! Since the Parade of Hearts auction was over the summer, our school community was unable to fundraise as we normally would. Knowing that this was a once in a lifetime sort of opportunity, a small group of Tomahawk Elementary staff and families took a leap of faith and procured the heart for the school with the understanding of community fundraising after the fact.
We are hoping to rally our community together and make this ‘reverse’ fundraising happen so that a few individuals don’t have to bear the cost entirely. If your family is able to contribute, even a small portion, we would love your support!
Want to help? Since it wouldn’t be possible for this special piece of art to find its home at Tomahawk Elementary without the support of this wonderful community, all donors' names will be recognized on a plaque on the heart sculpture. What a memorable way for students, families, and community members to share in a piece of our history!
Thank you for understanding these special circumstances of reverse fundraising and for helping bring a piece of art and history to our school that will be enjoyed by generations to come!
**Any excess funds will go to the specials' programs at Tomahawk and/or allocated under the direction of Tomahawk's 6th Grade student council.
