2023 Fundraiser for Munro College Infrastructure!

The Munro Hampton Infrastructure Fund (MHIF) would like to thank all current donors and past donors for their continued support and belief in the purpose and goals of the MHIF. You have played a huge role in the progress of the MHIF up to this point in time. We can’t thank you enough for supporting us as a frequent donor.

Please make your donations today and this Giving Tuesday November 28th towards the school’s infrastructure needs for 2023.

Like many high schools in Jamaica, the physical infrastructure of Munro College continues to deteriorate due to the underfunding of infrastructure by the government. The MHIF in collaboration with the Munro College school board is currently working on an Annual Maintenance Budget a Major Renovations Budget and a Capital Budget for new facilities.

The current infrastructure budget from the Government is approximately $4,000.00 USD. Due to the number and age of buildings at Munro developed over the last 166 years of the school’s existence, the annual maintenance budget need is now in the region of $80,000 USD to $100,000 USD. All Munro infrastructure budgets for 2023 will be published as soon as they are completed.

Leaking roofs in classrooms, maintenance of sport fields and courts, in addition to major repairs of water tanks, water distribution plumbing, dormitories and major repairs required for the chapel (national heritage site) and auditorium are just some of the urgent physical infrastructure needs.

The main aim of the MHIF is to raise infrastructure funds for the Munro College and Hampton School. However, it is our hope that other alumni groups and individuals will also develop their own initiatives and make contributions directly to the Munro College School Board by contacting the chairman, Mr. Murphy Greg. The MHIF, as a registered Canadian charity is required by law to manage all implementation activities and budgets of all projects that its donors support.

Without our donors the MHIF will not be able to assist Munro to reach its educational objectives, starting with the maintenance of the physical infrastructure.

The first project to be implemented by the MHIF will be published with scope of work and detailed budget in the first quarter of 2023. Project Progress Reports and a Final Close-out report will be provided to all donors. All donations to the MHIF are tax deductible in Canada, Jamaica, and the USA.

We would like to thank all donors for their time, consideration, and investment in the mission of the MHIF.
