Fundraiser for Patrick Emery (1971 - 2023)
Donation protected
We are devastated at the tragic and sudden passing of our much-loved friend, Patrick.
On Christmas Eve, after complaining of a migraine, Patrick collapsed at home and was rushed to the Austin Hospital. That night he was diagnosed with a stage 4 inoperable brain tumour. After three days on life support, Patrick passed peacefully with his beloved family by his side.
Patrick's passing was sudden and unexpected.
Patrick was husband, father, and provider to wife Bettina, daughter Babette, and son Baptiste. At just 52, Patrick had planned to be here for much longer. That's why his friends have created this page.
Please help Patrick's family by contributing to the cost of his funeral.
Patrick was a passionate and beautiful soul. He was completely devoted to his wife and children. They were the ultimate team. It's little wonder Patrick made an impact on everyone he met, with his abundant wit, intellect, ready smile and generosity of spirit.
Thank you for helping Bettina and the children through this incredibly difficult time.
About Patrick:
Patrick was an integral part of the local music community, writing for many publications across Australia over many years: The Age, Beat Magazine, I94 Bar, the Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian, The Brag, X-Press and more. Patrick was also the author of Execution Days - The Life And Times Of Spencer P. Jones.
There’s no doubt that anyone with a passing interest in music will have read his music reviews and interviews for thousands of bands. His greatest gift to many was his belief in his beloved local music scene - always wanting to help elevate some little known artist through his writing because he could. More on Patrick's music work here.
In his free time, there was nobody Patrick liked spending time with more than his family. He was immensely proud of his talented and kind children, who shared his passion for treading lightly on the planet and always seeking to do good. Patrick was an excellent cook, an avid reader, AFL supporter, and craft beer appreciator.
Patrick also leaves behind his dog Halfrid, his most loyal and steadfast companion. Halfrid and Patrick spent many an evening in the shed enjoying a quiet beer and solving the problems of the world.
There will be a celebration of Patrick's life at the Fitzroy Town Hall on 10th January at 3pm.
