Fundraiser for Sams Cancer Journey
Donation protected
Hello World,
This fundraising ask is for my brother Sam. Currently he is in the hospital with Stage 4 Hodgekins Lymphoma in his heart. I didn’t even know that it was possible to get cancer in your heart :s!! It has become clear he will be in and out of the hospital for an extended period of 6 month….maybe more for Chemotherapy and Heart care in Victoria/Comix Valley. In order for his family to support his care, it has already proven very costly. It is only the beginning of this potentially lengthy and murky process.
Between Sams regular bills, his care when he is discharged but recovering from chemo/unable to work and the cost of housing in Victoria, we need help. It feels strange to use this public platform but the sudden severity of the situation coupled with the future uncertainty is pushing us to be more open and vulnerable than comfortable for his needs at present and in the near future.
The donations would allow family to rent temporary housing to be close to the hospital, prepare food that will support his healing- which will save costs of eating out, transportation costs and travel to be further allocated to his direct care, temporary space for him to recover from chemo, keep his home so he has a place to return to after this journey and not be homeless and take some pressure off the costs of the family taking time off work to fully support his daily journey.
We do not know how long this will be aside from this is a long process with many, many potential variables. Especially with the nature of the heart…. Anything can happen. The least fun choose your own adventure but someone else is choosing the direction. So we are preparing for the long haul by making sure we have a good boat to ride these rough waves. Anything you can do is deeply helpful and will be put directly to Sam or to the supports we are putting in place for Sam. Sharing is indeed caring and very very helpful.
Other ways of being helpful is connections for suitable housing or fresh food. I plan to frequent a few farms that don’t use pesticides. If you have knowledge or recommendations for the Victoria area. I welcome this information as I plan my weekly route.
Lastly, the family asks Sam not be directly inundated with texts and calls as this is already an overstimulating time. There has been a group on Facebook created: Sams Health Journey that you are welcome to join. It will it easier for him to access and interact as he is able and be updated as a group. There will be updates posted there as things progress.
Thank you for reading this.
Let’s kick cancers ass.
