Fundraiser for Sarah, Patrick and baby Lily
Donation protected
Sarah Simpson and Patrick LaBahn's baby Lily was born 3 months premature at 24 weeks and 2 days gestation. As you can imagine, they need our help!
Below is the story in Patrick's words.
"How to even start...
Sarah Simpson and I have a baby! Her name is Lily Rose LaBahn. She was born 3 months premature...
This week has been so scary, so emotional, so sleepless... Sarah's water broke Monday night/ Tuesday morning, totally out of the blue. She was only 23 weeks and 6 days pregnant (40 weeks is "full term"). We didn't even understand what was happening. She was going into labor. We hadn't even gone to a birthing class yet, haven't had a baby shower; we are so unprepared. She was sent to Tacoma to be at a better-prepared hospital where they managed to stop the labor, but only for maybe 30 hours or so.
To go over every detail would be too much. This has been so intense. Suffice it to say that Sarah went back into labor and was hemorrhaging so much blood that an emergency C-section was necessary. The baby was 24 weeks and 2 days at this point. The baby came out squirming, and made a squawking vocalization (once), and was sucking the air with her mouth. That is a very encouraging sign. She has been doing so well, all things considered. She's basically breathing room oxygen right now which is not always the case when born this young.
Lily will be living at the hospital for months, assuming she makes it that long. Her future is so uncertain. We don't know what this future looks like for us, either. The costs, the travel, the heartache, the decisions. Sarah is recovering from surgery well, she was discharged from the hospital yesterday. She'll hopefully be more mobile in a week or so.
We are going to need help. We don't know what that looks like exactly, but we have gotten so much love, support, and gifts from friends and family so far that it has made us cry several times already; to see the fruits of the seeds of love we've sewn throughout our lives has been so powerful. For now, send us your prayers, positive vibes, tonglen meditations, whatever... we need it all."
To know Sarah and Patrick is to know that they are the kindest and most generous
people; now let’s return the favor. ♥️
