Sergio is a Anthony, NM resident a 2011 Gadsden High School Grad, a 2016 N.M.S.U. Grad, and a Doña Ana County, Chamberino Fire Station Firefighter Volunteer since 2012.
In 2013, Sergio fell off a 50 Ft. cliff while mountain biking at Transmountain. After this incident, at the ER, a tumor was discovered. A year later on July 28, 2015, he had brain surgery to have the tumor removed. After being in remission for 2 yrs., at the end of Aug. 2017, Sergio suffered severe headaches for 3 days followed by fever. He was taken to ER had test and CT Scan but doctors could not find a motive for fever so he was sent home. Three hours later, he started convulsing at home, and taken by ambulance to ER again, was admitted and placed in the ICU for 3 days without knowing the cause. So he was taken to his doctors at the Mayo Clinic where they found that the tumor had returned. On October 25, 2017 he had brain surgery for the second time, requiring a 5 day stay at the Mayo Clinic. On Dec. 4, 2017, he started a 6 week Radiation and Chemo therapy, which he finished on Jan. 16, 2018. Then will have a 4 week break follow by 6 more months of 5 days per month of Chemo therapy.
Sergio has been off work since September 2017 causing his medical bills are accumulate, and will continue to accumulate for a while more since he won't be able to work for a few more months due to his illness and since he will be receiving treatment out of state he will be required to travel to receive his treatments and medical attention.
