Dear friends and family of Stephen Shikles,
Our Mother, Lisa Shikles, needs your help and prayers for her husband, Stephen. She, as well as us, her children, are currently his only caregivers and need reliable transportation and better equipment.
For those who are not aware, our father Stephen suffered a catastrophic event with a cardiac arrest in May 2022 which left him with an anoxic brain injury. This was a huge shock to us since he was very healthy and involved in many activities at his parish. He was also an active working man, working in sales for more than 30 years.
Our Mom needs a vehicle for her husband. Due to Dad's height and the nature of his present condition, his transportation requires a very expensive van to accommodate him. Reliable transportation is crucial to his recovery, as it will ensure that he can make it to vital medical appointments and get the proper physical therapy he needs. Also, as a man who traveled throughout the US for almost his entire life, we've noticed that being out on the road seems to stimulate his brain.
Further, to help with our Dad’s care and recovery, Mom needs access to better medical equipment, such as his bed and lift, since the current ones are inadequate for a man of his height and too cumbersome to use. An electric lift and a higher-grade bed will help Dad with his recovery and the elimination of dangerous bed sores.
Our Mom is most appreciative of any contribution you can give. With Dad having been the sole breadwinner in the family with two children still in college, receiving financial assistance would be tremendously helpful. Any prayers for Stephen and us are likewise greatly appreciated!
God bless,
The Children of Stephen Shikles
