Fundraiser for Steve Beneke's Medical Costs
Donation protected
On Thursday evening February 13th, Steve Beneke was working an adult game as referee. In the 3rd period there was a fight at the blue line and in the process of breaking up the fight, Steve was hit in the chin by one of the players reactions. Steve immediately fell backwards to the ice hitting his head very hard. He made it to the penalty box to sit down and it was realized very quickly that he was in trouble. The people there and his partner, tried to get him off the ice and he collapsed to the ice. 911 was called and an ambulance took him to Gwinnett Medical Center Emergency. Steve was taken to the I.C.U. and put on a ventilator as well as a C.T. scan was done revealing brain bleeding. As of posting this, a second CT scan has been done and Steve is still on a ventilator and in rather serious condition. He is still in intensive care.
Steve is not going to be able to work for a fairly extended period of time as he gets better. He will need care and will incur a great deal of medical expense (beyond what has already happened that will be very expensive) as well as everyday life expenses that will need to be covered.
I am asking our hockey community, The referee community, The U.G.A. community and our friends and family to please help raise funds for Steve to cover the huge amount of bill's that he will be responsible for.
Steve is one of the nicest guy's you will ever meet and would give the shirt off of his back to help anyone. Please help Steve here in any way that you can. Thank You
