Fundraiser for Willie, Carmesia and Michael Bacote
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sophie, and I am fundraising along with another friend named Mary Jones in North Carolina for our dear friends Willie and Carmesia Bacote and their son, Michael. I have received permission from the Bacotes to create this fundraiser on their behalf. I have known them and their whole family for more than 36 years and have always seen them consistently help everyone around them. They have such generous hearts and give of themselves to help others. This is a crucial time of starting afresh for them and a great opportunity for us to support them and let them know we appreciate who they are and everything they have done for others throughout the years.
Here’s their story:
In January, Willie, Carmesia and Michael experienced a tragedy. Their entire apartment complex went up in flames including their apartment. It was called a “five alarm fire”. Unfortunately they, among others, lost everything in the fire “except the clothes on their backs”.

We know some have already given to help them meet their immediate needs and help with rebuilding their lives, and we are so appreciative of the support. We would like to set up this GoFundMe to continue to help them replace items that they need to rebuild their living space and whatever is needed for them to get back on their feet. As they are still dealing with the aftermath of the tragedy, we want to show them that we continue to be there to support them. This includes helping to replace household furniture, bedding, kitchenware, and continued clothing needs, etc. In the fire, they also lost a freshly stocked freezer, so we would like to include specifically blessing them with a new restocked freezer. We are certain that it would mean so much to them for your assistance in their rebuilding.
About the Bacotes:
Willie and Carmesia have been married for over 45 years. They have four children, nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Presently they, along with their son Michael, live in New Hampshire and have careers in nursing care, college campus safety, and postal service. I know them to be extremely hardworking individuals who always go above and beyond. I recall a time when they gave me a long ride in the middle of the night after my car got hit by a deer on the highway. I will always be grateful to them for all of the help they provided along the years. I know many of you have similar stories of their kindness.
A Simple Request:
It would be so wonderful if we could join together in this fundraiser and be a support to them. Any gift of any size will be appreciated. Together we can show them that we recognize what great loss they have experienced. Although many things they lost are irreplaceable, our goal is to show them that we care and wish to reach out to assist them with the physical needs of furniture and household replacements as well as some financial relief in this time of hardship and displacement. Again, we believe that this is such a crucial time for us to give to the Bacotes. They are having to start afresh and we want to continue to be there for them. Perhaps some of you already have reached out to them, and it would be great if you were able to continue to help and support them at this time. We all have experienced what it feels to have something valuable be lost or stolen and the grief that it brings. We cannot imagine what it feels like to have lost everything, but we can let our dear friends know that we love and care for them in this difficult time.
Our Promise:
Outside of GoFundMe administrative costs, all remaining funds will definitely go to the Bacotes, fully designated to help meet their needs. Thank you in advance for your help. If you would, please also share this fundraiser with others! It would be wonderful for your friends and family to play a part in this great and needful cause.
Thank you so much,
Sophie and Mary
