Fundraiser to FINALLY fix Ant

Donation protected
Many of you are aware of the horrendous circumstances surrounding Ant’s injuries following his terrible accident back in Nov 2015, when he plunged over 80ft into a ravine in an argocat.

His 7.5 hour ordeal remains one of the biggest rescues ever undertaken for a single person – with 46 people involved.

His Hip and Left Arm bore the brunt and over the next few years the [even back then] overstretched Welsh NHS conducted various operations to rebuild his Hips and literally reattach his arm.

Sadly, the result has been that he now requires a new hip and the second of two operations on his arm failed in Oct 2022, leaving him in a simply awful situation with no ongoing plan and an arm literally left dangling with metalwork scraping against bone.

In January 2024 his family decided to take the initiative and contacted the surgeon originally involved. This Surgeon had had some time off for family issues, but is now very much back in the saddle and, perhaps more excitingly for us, has a private practice.

The result is that the Hip can be done quickly [which is the biggest source of ongoing pain for Ant] and the surgeon is now back in charge of the NHS team caring for Ant’s arm. Once the Hip is done, the surgeon can move to working on the arm.

We know there’s a lot of love for Ant out there and we think this is the best chance for giving him his life back and are hoping you might be able to help. We’d all be so grateful if you would.

The Hip will cost £17,000 and is slated for 23rd March. The funds need to be in place two weeks before the op. The Arm will take a bit longer and will be a kind of NHS+ operation, so there will be bits that will need to be paid for.

The family is administering things and you can contribute via this page or directly – please get in touch with Ed or Lizzie or message us via this page.

If you’ve got the stomach, there are some historical piccies below showing the accident and some fairly gruesome shots and x-rays.
