Fundraiser to Help Jewell with Recovery
Donation protected
Last July I lost function of my hands and legs. I spent ten days in the hospital and was eventually diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome. I had to move back to Michigan to recover, but the process has been slower than expected and I've gone a year with hospital bills and no income with which to pay.
While I have recovered most function in my hands, I have chronic pain in my legs and feet, frequent seizing and cramping, nausea from the pain which has led to neuropathy, neuropathic pain, acute blood loss anemia, unspecified severe protein-calorie malnutrition, and amenorrhea.
My health continues to decline, and I've been in the ICU twice and have spent weeks in the ER from the 4 additional times I've been hospitalized.
I've received 8 blood transfusions, and little seems to change. I am currently on 9 daily medications to treat my symptoms, the side effects from medications, and as of yesterday 3 more medications were added to my daily routine. It is becoming financially prohibitive to continue treatment but I am unwilling to give up at this time. My doctor said currently, with the state of my body and the stress on my organs, that "we're talking life or death here." I am scared, I am stressed, I am exhausted.
I'm finally asking for help. I have no idea when I will be able to work again, so please if you can, throw a couple bucks my way.
I would also just love phone calls or letters. I'm still mostly home-bound and life gets so boring sometimes.
