Fundraiser to help the Alam Family

In the early morning hours of Sunday, June 25th, the Alam family was devastated by the news of a terrible suspected impaired motor vehicle accident that left them without their beloved 25-year-old son, Ishraq Alam.

Ishraq was cherished by many. He was a wonderful son, devoted brother, and friendly face in all communities. He touched the lives of everyone he encountered and always uplifted those around him. His smile radiated happiness and the joy he shared was contagious. He lived by the mantra of “hakuna haraka”, a life of no hurries. He lived life to the fullest and made the most of every experience, big and small. He lived life in the present and was grateful for every moment.

Ishraq had no shortage of hopes, dreams and wishes. He was a changemaker for everyone around him, especially his family. He proudly rose to the responsibility of being the eldest son in his family and being a leader for all those around him. One of his ambitions in life was to support his family and help his sister through university. She wishes to follow in his footsteps and go through the Ivey Business School at Western University. He was also actively engaged in significant charity work. He carefully crafted and delivered care packages to the homeless, he also taught Ivey business courses in Kenya, and had plans to contribute to many more initiatives. He wished to provide support to the homeless communities locally by building efficient food services as well as internet infrastructure. His vision was to equip as many people in need with the resources they needed to get back on their feet and build themselves and their loved ones a better future. He also wished to help build critical infrastructure such as wells and educational facilities in several third-world countries starting with Kenya, a place he held near and dear in his heart through his unique teaching opportunity. Ultimately he wished to start a non-profit to scale his visions and to gather the support of as many as possible to help build this better future.

We’ve created this GoFundMe in the hope that we can do justice to his life’s mission to support his family and give back to others.

With heavy hearts, we gather here to honour his memory and celebrate the extraordinary person he was.

As his family navigates through the profound grief of losing a cherished son and brother, we aim to alleviate some of their financial burdens and fulfill Ishraq’s wishes through this fundraiser.

The funds raised through this campaign will primarily be allocated towards three important aspects: burial expenses, education expenses for Ishraq's sister, contributions to his favourite charities, and ultimately support the development of a non-profit to support his long-term altruistic visions. Losing a loved one is an emotional and distressing experience, and we want to ensure that the Alam family can focus on healing and coming to terms with their loss without the added burden of financial stress. They hope to continue on his legacy through the non-profit after their healing process from this tragic loss.

The funds raised by Maariz Almamun and Amaan Ladha (close friends to Ishraq) will be presented to Shah Alam (Ishraq's Father) to allocate the funds accordingly as mentioned above.
