Fundraiser to help Todd White and Family

Donation protected
I am making this post on behalf of the White family, Todd, Tressa, Marissa and Mylee. This is a message from his daughter Marissa.

“We normally wouldn’t do anything like this, so we would like to start out by saying thank you in advance and please just pray!

On February 18th Dad was taken to the hospital for breathing issues. He was quickly diagnosed with double pneumonia and admitted into Walton Piedmont. They immediately started treating it with antibiotics, steroids, and put him on high flow oxygen. After the pneumonia began to clear up they were able to find two blood clots in his left lung. After a week of being at Walton he was moved into the ICU to monitor his oxygen closely because of how much it was fluctuating. As the pneumonia cleared up, his lungs and oxygen did not. The doctors ran extensive panels of blood for answers, wondering if there was an autoimmune disorder, fungal infection in the lungs or other disorder causing his lungs to not recover. After two long weeks in the ICU they were able to move him back to a regular room and switch him from high flow oxygen to a regular nose cannula. After being in the hospital for almost a month, Dad begged the doctors to let him go home, so they worked to get his oxygen as low as they could and allowed him to go home on Thursday, March 16th. As much as he was ready to be home his lungs were not, so we had to call for an ambulance to come get him on Saturday. Mom and I decided to take him to Athens Piedmont this time around in hopes to get more answers. Athens quickly admitted him as well, put him in the step down unit, and started him back on high flow oxygen. Monday they went in and drained fluid from around his left lung. Tuesday they did a more intensive scan and told us they were considering a lung transplant. Thursday they got results back on the fluid that showed abnormal cells (what they believe may be cancerous). They will be performing a biopsy tomorrow on his lung so they can run test and see exactly what we are dealing with. Hopefully by the end of the week we will have more answers and a treatment plan.

When Dad was originally admitted Mom had to take a step back from work, and since we’ve gotten some pretty big news this past week she has stopped working completely to be with him. We hate asking for help, but we don’t have much of a choice right now. If there’s anything you can give to help with food, gas or his medical bills that are to come we would greatly appreciate it! If you can’t donate any money at this time then please just pray for us and for his recovery. We aren’t sure what we are dealing with yet, but from what we have heard from his doctors it seems like Dad is going to have to put up a pretty big fight. We know he is so very strong and he will give it his all, but we need all the support and love we can get while we go through this. We want to thank everyone who has already helped us, made us meals, or just been there for us in our time of need. Again thank you in advance for however you help and if you have any questions or want to reach out please contact me or Mom.”

We know everyone loves Todd so much. We will continue to keep you guys updated in the days to come as we learn more about what is going on. Thank you again for the love and prayers.

Update 04/05/2023
Here’s an update on my Amazing Uncle from his daughter, Marissa.

“We want to thank everyone again for the prayers, support and love we have felt in the last week. After the biopsy last Monday we found out that Dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. The doctors wanted to be as aggressive as the cancer, so Dad had his first round of chemotherapy on Thursday. This is going to be a long, hard road for him, but if you know my Dad you know how extremely strong and stubborn he is. Please continue to pray, because we know how mighty our God is and that he can do amazing things.”
