Fundraiser to restore Odai Masri's hearing

Last November our dear friend Odai Masri (Oddz), founder of the Palestinian electronic music festival Exist, was diagnosed with a serious ear condition that threatens to end his music career. 

We have recently heard there is an operation that could save Odai’s hearing, but without medical insurance, he is not able to afford the procedure which costs around 1600 Jordanian dinars (£2000).

We started this campaign to raise £3000 to cover Odai’s medical bills plus attendant costs and post-op recovery time.

In their most recent medical diagnosis, the doctors have informed Odai that if the surgery is not performed as soon as possible the perpetual infection will permanently damage the ear drum and result in deafness. 

The reason we turn to the community for help is that Odai's current stay in Amman, Jordan is not made by choice. Odai is not able to return to Palestine without facing charges against him by the Israeli government due to his being a Palestinian Rights Activist. Consequently, the Jordanian government has not legitimised Odai's presence in the country rendering him an illegal person with no right to work and unable to acquire health insurance.

Odai is a brother to many of us, a force of nature who connects people around the world through music and makes incredible events happen. The loss of his hearing would be a cataclysmic blow to us all.
