Fundraising Campaign for the World Ice Swimming Championship

Hello, dear friends and followers!

I'm thrilled to share with you an incredible challenge: representing Portugal at the World Ice Swimming Championship in El Calafate, Argentina!

AUGUST 12-18, 2024 - ARGENTINA ❄️

This extraordinary event, organized by the Nadando Argentina linked to the International Winter Swimming Association (IWSA), will be the first winter swimming competition in the beautiful Patagonia region. Here, I will face the icy waters, swimming among glaciers in a spectacular and challenging setting, without the protection of a wetsuit.

But this is not just a test of physical endurance. It’s a unique opportunity to connect with nature deeply, to immerse myself in the world's cultures, and to celebrate the strength and community spirit that unites winter swimmers. This event also serves as preparation for my ultimate goal: to swim the longest distance ever swum in the ocean.

My Story

The dreams guide live...

My name is Mayra Santos. I'm a 45-year-old Luso-Brazilian‍♀️, and despite being born in a city 180 km away from the sea, I am recognized worldwide as the "Queen of Open Water."

Why did I earn this distinction? In 2015, at the age of 36, I began swimming. Thanks to my discipline, determination, and constant training routine, I have achieved excellent results, defying all paradigms related to age and gender. I have conquered seas, broken records, and inspired people worldwide to believe that there are no limits to our dreams.
