Fundraising for Billie's Surgery

Hello everyone,

Billie is our 4 year old daughter and we are fundraising to support the costs of private surgery for adenotonsillectomy. This is the surgical removal of the tonsils and adenoids.

Since 6 months of age Billie has presented with obstructive sleep apnea. NHS would not consider a referral to ENT until she was 3 years old, the 12 months that have followed this referral in 2023 have involved multiple hospital visits and distress for us as a family.

Billie has bilateral tonsillar enlargement and her symptoms of this are :

Billie also has very enlarged Adenoids causing nasal blockage, her symptoms of this are :

She is now on the urgent list for surgery under NHS care. A recent visit with her consultant and a call with the GP have both unfortunately confirmed that the waiting list is now up to a 2.5 year wait. She has been prescribed medication in the meantime and common side effects of this that can cause :

We refuse to give our 4 year old daughter this medication when we know the solution is surgery. She has already suffered enough without experiencing the side effects of this medication.

Billie now sleeps with a sick bowl by her bed every night because her choking episodes cause her to gag and vomit. She is due to start school in September and due to her restless sleep she is still napping in the day at nursery for up to 1.5 hours. Her restless and disturbed sleep alongside poor hearing is causing poor concentration and behaviour. We are concerned this will begin to have effects on her education, development and confidence.

We want to watch her enjoy being a young child and feel her medical issues are holding her back.

All funds raised will go towards the costs of her surgery. We have the consultation booked for the 25th May, which is costing £280 and then the surgery is a minimum of £4.7k.
