Please Support Briana As She Fights Cancer

Donation protected
Hello! My name is Judy Cox and I am writing this in support of my daughter Briana Cox who is battling stage 3 rectal cancer. After a year and a half of not feeling well, and numerous medical appointments, our world was rocked. Following a colonoscopy, and at only 42 years of age, a young mother who was always health conscious was now in a fight for her life.

Briana is a landscape architect in Santa Cruz, CA, and a Calpoly graduate. She and her husband, Prakash Kamath (PK) have two wonderful daughters, ages 8 and 18. Briana is a loving daughter, wife and mother and a loyal friend to her lifelong friends. She is a talented designer and creator of beautiful community spaces and recreation areas throughout Northern California. She is devoted to her family and friends and always shows up for them no matter what is happening in her life.

Nobody knows about her selfless character better than me. In 2020 I was in need of a liver transplant. She was not my direct donor but by donating a part of her liver to an anonymous recipient, it allowed me to move up on the list and receive a liver from another donor. In donating a part of her liver, she not only extended my life but gave another person the gift of life. As you can imagine she is the center of our lives.

Although we were devastated when, in February, she was diagnosed with rectal cancer, her strength and grace continues to inspire us every day. She is being treated at Stanford University Hospital and has completed a grueling course of radiation and chemo which was so debilitating she couldn’t work. Her treatment protocol was part of a clinical trial. Throughout it all, she faced each day with courage and positivity. She is now scheduled for surgery on 12/11/23 and will need a second surgery in March. When we learned that she needed surgery we realized that we needed to turn to the community for help.

Her out of pocket medical expenses are in the tens of thousands of dollars and mounting. All of her family and our close group of life long friends would like to relieve Briana and her husband of the burden of worry so she can keep her mind on healing.

If you are moved to help it would be deeply appreciated and any words of love and encouragement would be very welcome! Your love and support is the greatest medicine of all!

Thanks to all of you for caring! Warmest wishes to you and yours.
