Fundraising for Fuku

Update on Fuku:

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the passing of Fuku Vikilani. After many days of searching, Fuku was found on Dec 7th.

Fuku was an incredible son, brother, friend and teammate. Fuku has made a huge imprint on the Rugby world, and it goes without saying how important the Vikilani family is to Burnaby Lake Rugby Club. Fuku was a former youth member of team Canada and Burnaby Laker who absolutely loved the game. Off the field Fuku was funny and kind soul, but on the field Fuku was as tough as they come. Saturday's will not be the same without him, and he will be so greatly missed by all of us.

We will be keeping this Go Fund Me open to support the Vikilani family through this unimaginable time. The Vikilani clan are THE rugby family, and they have crossed a million paths on the rugby pitches all over the world. We are hoping the rugby world will step up now and show them love while they grieve. If you can, please contribute. Even small amounts are hugely appreciated. All funds will be going directly to Fuku’s parents to cover all related expenses and the cost of being off work during this difficult time.

Rest easy now Fuku. You will be forever missed.

Our dear friend and teammate Fukunoshima (Fuku) Vikilani has been missing since November 25th. Fuku was last seen in the Horseshoe Bay neighbourhood of West Vancouver. Fuku’s family, friends, teammates, and community members have been searching every day for Fuku, and we are desperate to bring him home safely.

Fuku is an amazing person who has made a huge imprint on the Rugby world, and it goes without saying how important the Vikilani family is to Burnaby Lake Rugby Club. Fuku is a former youth member of team Canada and current Burnaby Laker who absolutely loves the game. Off the field Fuku is a quiet, funny, and kind soul but on the field Fuku is as strong and tough as they come. Fuku and the Vikilani clan have crossed a million paths on the rugby pitches all over the world, and we are hoping all of you will help support him and his family now during this difficult time.

How Funds Will Be Used:

As you can imagine, this week has been unimaginably distressing for the Vikilani family, and that's why we are humbly asking for your support. The family has been in horseshoe bay day in day day out searching relentlessly. The funds raised through this GoFundMe campaign will go directly to the Vikilani family to ease the financial burden of being off work during this difficult time. Additionally, we hope to cover the costs of posters, supplies, travel, search efforts, food, and so on that the family has endured so far and through ongoing search efforts. Lastly, if able, we would like to fund the hiring of a PI, as the support from local law enforcement has not been sufficient or successful in helping us find our dear friend.

The outpouring of support from the community so far has been amazing, and the family is eternally grateful for every helping hand that has been extended so far. If you can, please contribute to our fundraiser, as it will no doubt make a tremendous impact on the Vikilani family. Of course, if you see or hear anything that might help the search efforts, please contact the family or West Van PD or if you see Fuku, please stay with him and call 911 immediately.
