Fundraising - Funeral cost for Pradip Subedi
Donation protected
We are shocked and saddened by the sudden death of our dear friend and fellow Nepalese-Canadian Pradip Subedi at such young age. He passed away on 17 January, 2022. He was only 33 years old. He leaves behind his young daughter Prajina (4) and his wife Juna. His death has left his wife emotionally devastated. Prajina is too young to understand the impact right now. But losing the sole breadwinner of the family, has put both in immense financial hardship.
Pradip and his family immigrated to Toronto in late 2019. When they immigrated, Prajina was only 2 years old. While Pradip found a job to earn a living, Juna was taking care of young Prajina and upgrading her English. Recently, Juna had joined private college Oxford College to become Medical Laboratory technician and is scheduled for board exam next month. Now because of Pradip's passing, it is very unlikely she can continue with the studies as scheduled.
Since he moved to Toronto, Pradip worked in a few Indian restaurants in Scarborough trying to establish his career as a cook. Within a short time, he had proved his cookery and managed the kitchen and had enabled restaurateurs to establish franchises. Before he passed away, he provided key sauces for six franchises of Biryani House, an Indian restaurant in Scarborough. He had shared his dream that he wanted Juna to get a technical degree and have a well-paying job. That is why, he said, only he would work to earn while Juna focusses on completing her studies. This is such a tragic end to their Canadian dream as a family.
Pradip was a soft-spoken, loving and kind friend of ours. Most importantly, he was a loving husband and a wonderful father. He was well known within the Nepalese community in Toronto, a key contributor to the social cause and a wonderful human being. He will be deeply missed.
Pradip did not have life insurance or any workplace insurance to cover the costs of the funeral. Pradip had used up his saving to purchase a condo last year. When the sole breadwinner is gone, Juna will have challenging financial stress. She now has no income but so many costs to bear.
In this hard time, we are requesting for donation to cover the funeral cost. The target for this fundraiser is just an estimate. We will know the actual cost amount as we go through the process. Any additional donations collected through this fundraiser will be handed directly to Juna and Prajina.
Thank you for supporting our community members during these extremely difficult times.
