This is a fundraiser to help support Mr. Noy Sitha, a singer, trans man, CamASEAN organizer, and longtime activist in Cambodia, purchase a home for retirement. He is the protagonist of the short documentary, Golden Voice, and all proceeds will go to him. He is an integral part of the Cambodian LGBTQ+ community, and has been working to collect the stories of 10,000 LGBTQ+ couples in the country. Before the Khmer Rouge, Mr. Sitha was a traveling singer and dancer with a play troupe, playing men's and women's roles. During the war of 1970 - 1975, he and his sister were paratroopers for the Khmer Republic. During the Khmer Rouge, he met and made community with other trans men in the same women's labor camp as him, and they developed friendships and partnerships that'd last a lifetime. He even met his wife there, and was almost executed when a superior found out that he was with a woman. He was saved by an old family friend that ran the neighboring village. Because of his beautiful voice, he was also asked to sing patriotic Khmer Rouge songs for the regime. Since the Khmer Rouge ended, Mr. Sitha and his wife have been living in Phnom Penh, where they've raised children and grandchildren and organized with other LGBTQ+ people for visibility and recognition. CamASEAN, the activist group he's long been a part of, even won LGBTQ+ sex education in public schools.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, he and his wife have fallen on hard times, and lost the land that they'd purchased in the countryside to retire on. These proceeds from documentary supporters will go to helping this incredible man secure a home for a stable retirement.
