Fundraising for Professor Fekadu Beyene's Medical Treatment

Dr. Fekadu Beyene Kenee is a Professor of Resource Economics at Haramaya University, Ethiopia. He received his PhD degree from Homboldt University of Berlin, Germany, his Masters degree from Wageningen University of The Netherlands and his Bachelor's degree from Haramaya University.

He has served Haramaya University for the last 30 years in teaching, research, academic advising and university leadership, including as head of department and most recently as Vice President of Administration and Students Affairs.

Over those long years, Prof Fekadu helped a number of postgraduate and undergraduate students earn their degrees under his guidance and serve humanity in various capacities in the country and abroad.

Professor Fekadu is a highly skilled academic who has relentlessly contributed so much to his institution, his country and other African countries in producing many graduates and contributing to the advancement of science and technology.

While serving his fellow citizens with such a momentum, at his prime age of early 50s, he has recently taken ill, sadly, diagnosed with a notorios pancreatic cancer. Although he has been taking chemotherapeutic treatment in Addis Ababa over the last few months, unfortunately, his health condition hasn't improved. He is now referred by a medical board for advanced treatments overseas, the treatment cost of which is estimated at more than US$30K. We all know that public servants in Ethiopia are paid meager wages and do not have any health insurance that can possibly help them in such difficult health condition. The limited financial capacity one may have cannot afford any such advanced, and costly treatment abroad.

Therefore, this fundraiser is set up to help our friend to be able to receive medical treatment abroad and save his life. We appeal to his former colleagues, former students, friends, acquaintances and all sympathetic fellow Ethiopians abroad as well as to all kind-hearted people to lend your generous hands to help him with any amount you possibly can, no matter how small it may be.
