Fundraising for Southern Turkiye Earthquake
Tax deductible
On a cold February night, an earthquake in the magnitude of 7.8 hit the southeastern part of Turkiye, which was the largest and most destructive natural disaster that the Turkish people have ever seen in the last century. 11 cities got damaged, thousands of buildings got ruined, tens of thousands of people got wounded or killed.
We are Turkish Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange & Study (YES) students being hosted across the United States who wish to raise awareness about the situation. There are currently around 3 million individuals sleeping on the streets, including our relatives and families. These figures may appear to be simply statistics, but given the lack of effective funding, harsh winter conditions, and aid and resources, every single person is at risk in this situation.
We are far from our homeland and this is the best and only option we had in our hands to provide help for our homeland, and our people.
Given that one US dollar is roughly equivalent to 18 Turkish lira, any donation you make will be greatly appreciated. This means that even a small amount of money, such as $5, can buy a blanket, loaves of bread, and around 60 bottles of water for individuals who are now sleeping on the streets.
