We the family and friends of Deirdre Darcy Hogan are asking you to please help us raise as much funds as possible for the Irish Cancer Society and North Tipperary Hospice.
Cancer takes from us everyday. It takes big days, little days and everything in between and replaces them with treatment days, recovery days and days feeling lost. Our aim is to raise funds to help people take back these days from cancer. Throughout Ireland, there are people living with cancer everyday and our hope is that everyone can access the support and care necessary to help them through their journey and enable them to look forward. During Deirdre’s journey with cancer she found great support from the Irish cancer society and North Tipperary Hospice. These two charities were very close to Deirdre’s heart as they helped her find strength in battling her cancer and also provided her and her family with immense support and kindness when needed.
Deirdre was first diagnosed with cancer in July 2018 and fought a great fight like the true warrior she was. She continued to live her life in the best way possible, surrounding herself with family and friends and continued to enjoy precious and fun times. She refused to allow cancer take from her and the kind, fun, generous and selfless person who we knew and loved continued to shine every single day of her journey.
Unfortunately, in October last year, Deirdre’s health deteriorated and we lost our much loved and adored friend, Mam, wife and sister. Throughout Deirdre’s battle with cancer she found the support she received from North Tipperary Hospice and the Irish Cancer Society invaluable. She held these two organisations with such regard, so much so, in 2019 Deirdre rallied a group together and they organised a very successful fundraiser.
It would be our great honour to follow in her footsteps and help raise much needed funds for the Irish Cancer Society and North Tipperary Hospice in memory of Deirdre. We ask you to please help in any way possible and donate to this go fund me for the very important charities whose work we are forever grateful.
Deirdre’s brothers in-law Eamon, Tom, Vincent and Brian have dedicated their time and extraordinary effort to run the Dublin city marathon in October. Not only are they doing this in honour of Deirdre but also for their late mother Alice Hogan.
