Fundraising in Memory of Karen Evans
Donation protected
One of our amazing nurses Karen Evans (previously King) who worked on Bluefin Ward at Worthing Hospital, sadly passed away in September 2022 completely out of the blue leaving everyone devasted.
*Karen earnt the title Bluefin Hero after she donated her organs after she died. Truly an amazing person, in death and life.
She was the heart of Bluefin Ward, the best of the best. She was loved by patients, parents and staff alike and an amazing friend and colleague to us all. She has left such a hole in all our lives and is irreplaceable, because of this we are fundraising in her memory. This started as a fundraiser to buy a memorial bench and plaque for Karen which will go in one of the new gardens in the Hospital grounds where staff and patients will be allowed to visit.
Incredibly, however, we have had the bench donated to us ready for when the garden is opened, therefore we've been thinking of other ways to use donations. Karen was amazing at what she did, she went above and beyond as a Nurse. Everyone will remember her for her love of our patients with complex needs and providing them with the best care, not only them but their families. So we just know that Karen would fully approve of raising money to spend on sensory equipment and resource's that all of our patients, particularly those with complex needs and their families can benefit from during their stay on Bluefin Ward.
We will be carrying out a variety of fundraisers this year so keep an eye out for ways you can help and get involved in our mission to remember the best Nurse we've had, our Bluefin Hero*.
