Fundraising Journey to Madagascar- 3P's Challenge

Hi, my name is Isabella, I am a year 10 student at Ullswater Community College and I have been given an amazing opportunity to go to the unique island of Madagascar in 2025 with the conservation organisation Operation Wallacea for a scientific research and conservation expedition.

There are lots of benefits to the conservation expedition, educationally, personally and environmentally. The expedition will push me out of my comfort zone by allowing me to develop confidence and resilience, work with new people and gain language and cultural skills while experiencing another country completely different from the UK.

It will also allow me to gain an insight into practical field experience and interact with academics in numerous fields as well as taking responsibility for scientific research.

And of course to help Operation Wallacea to collect important data and research on such an amazing part of the world to help with the conservation and monitoring of the biodiversity and ecosystems of Madagascar.

Also, the data collected will help to create solutions for widespread conservation issues that are experienced across the world. This long term data encourages action to be taken by countries and multi-national companies to tackle these issues.

Up until July 2025, I will be fundraising to reach the sum of money needed to get me to Madagascar. I have had loads of support from family, friends and locals including companies and businesses. I am so grateful for this! I have set myself The 3P's Challenge which consists of climbing Helvellyn(Peak), Paddleboarding the length of Ullswater(Paddle) and Cycling from Pooley Bridge to Penrith(Pedal) in one day.
