Fundraising to help the local Gambian community
Donation protected
Our names are Matilda and Zachary, and we are fundraising to help with community projects on our upcoming trip to The Gambia, in December 2024.
We are in the sixth form at Beacon Academy, who have been visiting The Gambia since 1990. Beacon has forged strong connections with lots of the local villages, and every year the students fundraise to help fund projects in the villages they visit.
We are attempting to raise £500 for community projects. This money will be spent wisely on different projects in The Gambia. During our trip, we will be visiting villages and learning about projects that would make a difference to the the local community.
Based on what we learn, and as a volunteer student group, we will make educated decisions on which projects will have the most impact, and which projects we should fund.
We are excited to get to know the local people, and to understand what we can do to make a positive difference. The more money we raise, the greater the impact we will have on the communities that need it the most.
