Funds for 4 year old Fern (and her folks)

(Thank you Janine Remple for promoting me to do this)Hello, I am setting this fund up for my friends, Nathan and Alyssa. Their 4-year-old daughter Fern has been in the hospital for just over 2 weeks. What seemed like a simple flu has turned out to be pneumonia. Their misfortune started in the Swift Current hospital, but it was quickly discovered that more specialized care was needed and they were rushed to the children’s hospital in Saskatoon. After over 2 litres of fluid were removed from little Fern’s lungs, a scan showed that there were more issues in Fern’s lungs than anticipated. A thick layer of puss and debris had made it so that her one lung was completely incapable of getting air, and the only way to get the lung functioning again was to surgically remove this material. The surgery was successful, bit the news following was that her lung was “decayed and rotten” Now it is a waiting game to see if the two chest tubes will be able to drain the remaining fluid. If this does not work, there is a potential that they will need to remove the bottom 1/3 of her lung. On top of all of this, Nathan has been taking care of their 2 boys, who have both been dealing with stomach sickness. Nathan has had to take time away from his woodworking business, and has had to drive multiple times to and from Saskatoon. Another layer to all of this is that just recently, when Nathan tried to start his truck, the engine blew. If you decided to graciously give to this cause, the money will go toward supplementing the gas that’s been used travelling between Swift Current and Saskatoon. There has also been a loss of income for Nathan’s woodworking business, as Nathan has not been able to work in the past couple of weeks. And of course, for Nathan’s truck repairs. We appreciate all who will support this family as they go through this terrible time.
