Funds for Domestic Violence Survivor's Property

Laurie Pesola and Jen Dane are reaching out to raise money for our dear friend, Janna, who has recently endured a harrowing ordeal as a victim of domestic violence. Janna is a kind and hardworking woman who has always been there for her friends, family, and community. Now, she desperately needs our support.

On June 5, 2024, Janna's ex-boyfriend broke into her home and held her at gunpoint for eight terrifying hours, threatening to kill her and then himself. Through quick thinking and immense bravery, Janna managed to send an email to her boss asking them to call 911. The police, including a SWAT team, responded and were able to negotiate her release unharmed. However, the police intervention, which included using rubber bullets, pepper balls, and tear gas, left Janna's home severely damaged.

After the incident, Janna was shocked to discover the extent of the damage to her home: broken doors, shattered windows, extensive wall damage, and a need for crime scene cleanup ($22,000) due to tear gas and blood. To make matters worse, her insurance will only cover a small portion of the repairs ($8900) leaving her with significant out-of-pocket expenses that she cannot afford. The estimated cost for repairing and rebuilding her home is between $30,000 and $40,000, far beyond what her insurance will cover.

We are aiming to raise $55,000 to cover the costs of repairs, replacement of damaged items, and to help Janna get back on her feet. This amount will not only restore her home to a safe and livable condition, but also help her and her daughter move forward from this traumatic event.

Domestic violence affects many people, directly or indirectly, and this is our chance to come together as a community to support someone who has shown incredible strength in leaving an abusive relationship.
