Funds for Fire Hero's Recovery and Lost Wages

On the summer solstice of 2024, my mother and I were swimming at a nearby apartment complex when a fire broke out. With no smoke alarms sounding or

any fire alarm available to pull, my mother and I decided to act fast to get everyone out. We banged on every window and door, shouting "FIRE! GET OUT!" saving many other families and their pets from injuries.

As I came around back to where the fire originally started, an elderly man who was holding onto a large pitbull said, "I am not strong enough but my elderly wife and my child who is special needs is in there. There is another dog in there." The apartment above them was engulfed and the patio above them was about to collapse, their front door was already blocked by the fire. Without a second thought, in only my swim trunks and a bra, I walked through the fire and pulled both of them out and the dog with help from several bystanders.

Five seconds after we pulled them out, the balcony that was above us collapsed, blocking the last and only entrance to their apartment. Within 20 more seconds, their entire apartment was gone. Everyone was saved in that fire, including all animals with the exception of one cat who is still missing. However, without my quick thinking that day, those two ladies, the puppy, and I could have died.

After the fire, I was transported by ambulance to Shands UF health where they treated me in the trauma unit for third-degree burns and blisters to both of my feet as well as first-degree burns and blisters on my shoulders. I am creating this GoFundMe to spread awareness about what happened yesterday as well as to get help as I am going to be out of work for an extended period of time. Thank you and God bless.
