On March 7th, 2019, Ryan Hays passed away after being struck by a motor vehicle while crossing the street as a pedestrian. Ryan was just 31 when this tragic accident took his life. He is survived by the love of his life, Hilary Humphries, who is a college student, and his adorable 10 month old son, Marshall Hays.

Ryan was born in San Jose, CA, and played football for Santa Teresa High School. Ryan had many passions, including a deep love for his son and family. Ryan, always concerned for the strength of himself and others, inspired others to build strength, physically and emotionally. As a rap lyricist, he communicated his passions through words and music. As an AA sponsor, he emotionally supported others. As a father and brother, he inspired physical strength through working out. He even physically conditioned his dog, Rocko (probably the most fit canine in San Jose). Ryan’s wicked sense of humor and radiant smile will be dearly missed.
As Kathleen Humphries, Marshall’s aunt, phrased it, “Not only was Ryan an amazing friend and partner, but he was also a loving father. He touched the hearts of many people with his joyful positive spirit, his sharp wit and comedic remarks, and his ongoing optimism about his future —qualities which both aided and inspired the people around him.”
We, Team Marshall, are organizing this campaign on behalf of his partner, Hilary, and son, Marshall. We are friends and family grieving. In our sorrow, we know Ryan would want us to focus on the future happiness and growth of his new family, Hilary and Marshall. Hilary is a college student, majoring in Accounting IT. It’s critical that she remains focused on her education and Marshall’s well-being.
This campaign is to raise funds to:
1. Manage living expenses for Hilary and Marshall while she finishes her college education and maintains a loving environment for Marshall to thrive despite the loss of his father.
2. Secure funds for Marshall’s education, something his father would be immensely proud of.
All the funds that are collected will be directly deposited to a custodial account for Marshall. The funds collected will be managed by Hilary with oversight guidance of Randall Hays, Ryan’s father, and after consultation with a financial adviser to cover both living expenses of the family and long-term education expenses for Marshall.
Anything you can give will be dearly appreciated. We are all working to create a better future for our children and know that your gift is meant to be delivered with a great deal of love and support. Having said that, prayers are also much appreciated.
Thank you for reading and caring.
XO-
Team Marshall
