Funds for Olivia Heiken & Bella & Chloe Metcalf,
Gryphon Metcalf was 18 years old, son to Olivia Heiken and Thomas Metcalf and brother to Bella & Chloe. Gryphon passed away on June 6, 2020 in a tragic suicide resulting from a battle with depression. Instead of hiding from the stigma that often surrounds suicide, Gryphon’s family wishes to share his story in hopes to help other families and their children who may deal with depression.
Gryphon’s life’s work was caring for others— his friends, sisters, Mother, and the elderly he cared for at the nursing home where he worked. He was “Papa Bear” to all his friends and led with an open heart and open arms to all he encountered. Gryphon was highly aware of his struggle with depression and was fiercely dedicated to self-care. He discovered healthy outlets in competitive weight-lifting, wellness, goal-setting, and as a athlete who believed in the power of TEAM to manage the depression and, at times, the anger that overtook him.
Gryph’s love, silly sense of humor, and positive energy are deeply missed. His community has suffered an incredible loss. Together, we remember his enormous dimpled smile and THAT HEART! Sharing our memories keep him with us.
This Go Fund Me page was created by a community of friends who love the Heiken & Metcalf family and want to help Olivia and her girls, Bella & Chloe, in this time of need with funeral expenses, utilities & general bills, counseling, transition into a new home, and lost wages/work while they process this tragedy. The greatest gift we can provide for Olivia, a single mother, is to ease her worry about finances so she has the unfettered freedom to focus on the health and well-being of Bella & Chloe as they embrace their love and process the loss of sweet Gryphon, begin their personal healing journeys, and all that will arrive in the days, weeks, and years to come.
