Funds For School ( Bringing Amir Home)

Hi everyone my name is Kadijah I am a mom of a 22 week survivor named Amir. Back in 2020 I gave birth to 22 week twin boys. Amare was born November 8, 2020 but suddenly passed 13 days later. Amir the surviving twin was born November 11, 2020. Amare and Amir was giving a 1% survival chance. And Amir to this day has continued to beat every odd possible. Amir was striving, we were preparing to have him home April of 2021. But suddenly an unexpected volvulus happened. Causing Amir to almost nearly die. But once again the strong man pulled through. Amir spent 13 months in the NICU at our local Children’s hospital. Amir is still hospitalized but he has made the big step to graduate from the ICU with honors to move on to the step down unit. Amir has now been in the hospital for 16 months. He is slowly approaching discharge but our biggest challenge is finding home care nursing. Amir is trach and vent dependent which requires a home care nurse prior to discharge. They estimated that Amir could be waiting around for 6 months to 2 years. With the odds being so against us I decided to pick up another crown and work toward going to nursing school to become Amir nurse for home so he will be able to discharge rather sooner than later. I got accepted into a nursing program, but due to me having a prior degree I have exceeded almost all my loans. Therefore I have to figure out a way to pay for what financial aid doesn’t cover. Before the boys were born I had a career as an director in a correctional setting for 8 years. But I had to medically separate due to me needing to be by my boys side full time in the hospital. Anything will help, I’m very thankful for everything god has displayed to us over these trying 2 years. But my main priority is getting Amir home, returning to school and becoming Amir’s best primary care giver is my goal and aspiration. Thank you for acknowledging my brief journey.
