Funds for two little girls left without a father.

Donation protected
Hi, My name is Walt. I am trying to raise funds to help two very young girls who lost their father at a very young age. I first met Matthew whe he was about 7 years old about 35 years ago. He attended the same grammer school as my son and they became members of the Tiger Cub Scouts along with some of their friends from their school. Matthew worked his way through, seldom missing a meeting, and then advanced to Cub Scouts. Matt was always an inspiration to the other boys. A lot of boys drop out, but Matt had a way of keeping his guys inspired to stick with it. When they turned 11, every boy in that group moved up to be Boy Scouts in an event know as Crossing Over. That's when I got heavily involved with them. My first year with them I got drafted to be their adult leader for the one week long summer camp program at Kittatiny Mountain Scout Reservation. I enjoyed being with and working with the boys for the next 25 years or so. Matthew excelled at everything he put his mind to. He was an excellent marksman at the Rifle Range and the Archery Range. He was a strong swimmer, boater and kayaker and always kept a lookout for the younger boys to help keep them safe on the water and in the woods. Knot tying came naturally and he always helped out the younger scouts when he saw the need. Matt worked hard at his own advancement and earned more than enough merit badges to earn the rank of Eagle Scout early. Since its inception in 1911, only four percent of Scouts have earned this rank.

After aging out of Boy Scouts, Matthew enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. During his first week of boot camp his superiors noticed his skills and leadership abilities and promoted him to Private First Class, a rank a Marine usually earns after boot camp. Matt served with honor and participated in the invasion of Iraq. He received an honorable discharge, came home and went to work for the Middlesex Water Company.

Matthew J. Jantas, 42, of Neptune, passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. Leaving his 9 and 11 year old daughters bewildered and in need of support.
