Funds Needed to Rent a Home

Hi. My name is Jyminia Tiller and I need some help. I have had 2 years of seriously bad luck. In August 2020, despite quarantining, my son and I came down with Covid. Luckily, he had a very light case, but I ended up in the hospital for 9 days. They told me I was one of the sickest patients they had seen - some came in not as sick as me and they didn't make it, so I considered myself very blessed. I was still contagious when I was released, and I was unable to return to work until early December - 4 months with no paycheck. I emptied my 403b and extra retirement to pay the bills.

I tried to return to work twice before December with no success. Needless to say, my superintendent was not thrilled with me. Before I was allowed back, he gave me paperwork for my pulmonologist to fill out. IT WAS paperwork to retire me with a disability, very hard to come back from. Because I didn't retire, my life became very difficult. I did not want to retire, I wanted to teach!

In the midst of all of this, my mother passed away. Her death knocked me for a loop. Three days after my son and I returned from her funeral, my landlord informed me they were selling my home and I had 2 months to find an alternative place to live. I was still suffering the effects of Long Covid and the only place we could find was several hundred dollars more a month. It was a nightmare move. In March of this year, I lost my job. My son, who has Asperger’s took over everything, but in August, we lost our home. I am currently subbing, but it's not enough. My son is paying for the storage unit, with our furniture and albums, but for the most part friends and family are paying for the motel. And they are tapped out.

We need help badly. I have applied for every teaching position in the area that I am certified to teach, but without success. I've applied for housing assistance, but I've not heard back. Same with food stamps. My son with his disabilities misses cooking for the 2 of us. I miss his cooking. I miss having a home and I just wish for some money to help us to rent a home and pay the deposit. If you can help, thank you so much.
