Funds needed to save life of a young mother & wife

Dear compassionate souls,

Today I (Nikki Fullmer) am reach out to you on behalf of my dear sister in law Liz Fullmer. She is a wife to her gentle supportive husband of 19 years and young mother to 4 sweet and understanding children. Three girls ages 16, 13, 11 and an 8 year old boy.

I share with you some of the details of her 3 year journey! Her first encounter with this relentless disease began in the fall of 2021. Liz could tell something was wrong with her body. Despite doctors doing blood tests and telling her she was fine she persisted and sure enough she was right.

Following a biopsy, she was told that she had appendiceal cancer, cancer of the appendix, but that it had traveled to her colon. Of course she would need to remove the tumor. After surgery she would also have to go through chemotherapy.

Before the chemo began, she questioned her doctor about the potential efficacy of the treatment in killing any remaining cancer. The doctor told her it would get it all unless it was in her ovaries. Liz said just take them, I don’t need them! But the doctor said no that she was too young and that it was only a 1% chance cancer would be in her ovaries.

So she began chemo and got sick and excruciating nerve damage that gave her blisters on her finger tips and toes. She was not elected this and as you can imagine made even basic tasks like washing her hair a task she could not perform without her sweet daughter to help her.

After many months of pain, prayer and perseverance in May of 2022, she was declared cancer-free.

However, this victory was short-lived.
18 months later, Liz discovered the cancer had returned, and I’m sure you can guess where it was… in her ovaries, despite the 1% chance. Had the doctors heeded her plea to remove her ovaries during the initial battle, she might have been spared this second battle for her life.

But instead, she had to endure many months or more chemo, surgeries and pain…physically, mentally, emotionally and financially. Impressively enough thou…it has never been a batter for her spiritually. She has continued to strengthen in her relationships with God and with Christ. And her husband and family have continued to pick up the loads that she could not carry.

Shortly after the discovery that yet again something was wrong, she had a full hysterectomy and was told that the same cancer was back. It had in fact been in her ovaries all along and just was laying dormant this whole time.
Sadly her local oncologist told her that the only thing he could do for her was to administer more chemotherapy. Which he considered only to be an exercise in making her sick before she dies. As he saw it, this second round of cancer was going to take her life.

She prayed and set out for more answers. With the guidance of the Spirit and a local regenerative medicine doctor, Liz discovered a potential solution in the form of a HIPEC surgery and immunotherapy. Both however were not offered locally.Adam and Liz set out to 4 different hospitals in 3 different states. Within a month however they had found a surgeon who would perform the very successful HIPEC surgery in Utah and Dr. Burzynski who would provide the immunotherapy program.

Finding a surgeon and Dr. Burzynski, were answers to prayers but came a high price. The costs of travel, consultations, medications and peptides were adding up quickly. This process alone was exhausting and expensive. oh and both recomended at least 6 more round of chemo!

In September of 2023 Liz began her chemo again. This time she was told she would loose her hair and for her that was the part she feared the most. Liz felt strong and wanted her family to see her that way. She didn’t want them to see her as a sick person, and without hair she feared that is all they would see when they looked at her.

She has always been a believer in that “prayer is how you ask God and study is how you hear his answers”. Through this process she found a quote that told her that “she has the power to move the mountain before her” She took this to heart and started commanding her hair to not fall out, the chemo is not for you” she would tell her hair.

After 6 rounds of chemo she still has her hair! Not all of it but by no means would ever look at Liz and think “she’s sick”.

In January it was determine that the chemo and Dr. Burzynski’s immunotherapy had done a remarkable job at diminishing the quantity of cancer and the surgeon agreed to perform the surgery on the 22nd. The HIPEC surgery would take at least 6 hours. During it they would give all of her organ a “chemo bath”. This meant they would take them out rub them all with chemo and then put them back in her. It should take at least 6 hour (really took 8) and required at least a 6 month recovery, the first 7 days would have to be spent in the hospital in Utah away from all of her family except Adam.

Today she is home and that of course feels great. I was just texting her about how I pray that she will be healthy soon and she she said same “I’m sick of being sick. But honestly so worth it. The walk with Christ is priceless. I wouldn’t trade it.”

Soon Liz will continue her peptide/immunotherapy treatments and of course the bills will continue to pile up. Because Adam is self employed, their insurance coverage requires them to pay everything upfront. However, the crucial and expensive peptide/immunotherpy is not covered by insurance.

This is why I have created this page. Adam and Liz need us to help pay for the immunotherapy that has proven to be beneficial for her health and effective in her battle.

Thank you or reading this. I know it was long but it is hard to make this incredible story short and doing so would be to undermine the effort she has put in to get this far!

In life I truly believe in the phrase “I/we have not come this far to only make it this far!”

Please donate what you can so Adam and Liz can make it further in this life and journey together!

Attached is one of the many statements for the immunotherapy.
