Funeral and Burial Fundraiser for Walter Pollyn
Donation protected
It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my wonderful father, Walter Perekuno Pollyn. An incredible husband and father among many other things, Walter suffered from a rare autoimmune disorder and spent 3 weeks and 6 days in the hospital before succumbing to the effects of sepsis and complications associated with his condition on August 15th, 2024.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edna Pollyn, and his three children, Lois, Huldah, and David Pollyn.
Walter was born in the sea; on Bonny Island in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria on December 25th, 1956. In his youth, he was a lover of sports - he participated in swimming and once had the opportunity to represent Nigeria as a runner. His mother, a force in her own right, was strictly against this, often stating that “only thieves run with anyone chasing them.”
After studying and receiving a BSc. in the United Kingdom, Walter was registered with the Chartered Banking Institute. He later earned a degree in Theology from Escondido Bible College and graduated Manga Cum Laude. From there, he dedicated his life to Christ and ministered everywhere from Sunday schools to prisons. In the later part of his life, he worked as a private contractor.
Those who knew him know that he loved God, friends and family, golf, large cups of tea, lifetime movies, traditional Nigerian food, old records, celebrating anniversaries, live theatre, and the sea. He enjoyed classic church hymns and old detective shows like Columbo and Murder, She Wrote. He had a keen sense of humour and was always willing to open his home to anyone in need of a helping hand. He also cooked an excellent pot of sweet corn and thyme rice!
We want to give Walter, beloved husband and father, the memorial he deserves to honour his memory and say our final goodbyes. I am humbly asking for donations to help cover the cost of Walter’s funeral and upcoming expenses as our family reels from this devastating and unexpected loss.
We also want to thank our family and friends for their unwavering support during this incredibly difficult time. Any assistance is deeply appreciated.
