Funeral and Emergency costs for Anita and Family
Donation protected
Thank you for being willing to help support our beloved Anita Salazar and her family as they are grieving the recent loss of Anita's mother, Ofilia Torres Salazar and Grandmother, Josefina Salazar. Anita is a third year at Duke Divinity School and has made a huge impact on the student body throughout the years. She has served as president of La Union Latina, is currently a GPSG Representative, sings in the Divinity School Choir, is a member of Caminantes, the Anglican Episcopal House of Studies and more. Despite encountering many systemic difficulties at school, Anita has the reputation of being, as her classmate puts it "always smiling, willing and open to engaging in academic, ministry and overall life discussions."
Right before fall finals, Anita had to take an urgent flight to Texas upon hearing that her family's health issues were being exacerbated due to recent COVID contractions as well as the strains the healthcare systems in the Texas panhandle have been experiencing recently. She is an only child and has had to take on much of the caregiving and point of contact work that has been required. Anita says that prayers are much appreciated and even if she doesn't respond to texts and messages she is so abundantly grateful for the support and kindness being received.
We are asking for money to help cover funeral costs, plane tickets, food and lodging.
If you prefer, Doordash and UberEats are also appreciated and can be sent to Anita. This platform will not allow us to post emails in this section so please contact us if you need Anita's email to send gifts.
Venmo is also a good option if it is easiest: @anita-salazar
