Medical and Memorial Expenses for Idalmis Penella
Donation protected
My name is Shawn Slenczka, and I am fundraising on behalf of the Penella family. On Saturday, January 15, 2022, Idalmis Penella was rushed to Kennestone Hospital. Her husband Ricky made the split-second decision to take her to the nearest hospital. Idalmis, caring only about her family's well-being, took down her mask and said, "No, that hospital is out-of-network." Of course, that did not matter to Ricky, whose only concern was getting her the help she needed. Not long after arriving at Kennestone, Idalmis passed away unexpectedly.
The most important thing to Idalmis was her family; her husband Ricky Penella, their son Ricky Jr., and their daughter Alina. Ricky was her best friend and soul mate, and together they raised an incredible family. Idalmis was an avid reader and loved traveling. Her goal was to travel the world one day. She was also beginning a new career in real estate. Idalmis left this world much too early at the tender age of 39, only weeks shy of her 40th birthday. Idalmis was completely healthy only weeks before. Her tragic loss is a reminder of just how fragile life is.
I have only known the Penella family for a short time. I am the head wrestling coach at Hillgrove High School, and Idalmis's oldest son Ricky Jr. began wrestling for us at the start of the school year. While new to wrestling, he quickly endeared himself to the team and took on a leadership role. He is funny, kind, and hard-working. Ricky has all of his mother's greatest qualities. Ida's daughter, Alina, is also a Hillgrove student who has flourished in her first year in high school. The strength this family has shown is beyond incredible, but the pain is something no one should ever feel.
Please help the Penella family in their time of need. Idalmis was their family's heart and soul, and they are devastated by her loss. The last thing they need to worry about is medical expenses because their insurance was out-of-network. The family is grateful for any support they receive.
