Funeral and Medical Expenses for Ron Smith Jr.
Donation protected
If you frequent Westmoreland NY, you likely have encountered Ron on his bike. There wasn't any form of weather that would keep him from getting his miles in. If you have read a newspaper, Ron had likely been a part of its path at some point. If you needed assistance, Ron probably helped you. It's the kind of person he was. The same characteristics that he helped instill in his children Heath and Nichole. Ron had his hands in many record-breaking drag strip passes with his family by his side. Racing and his family were his passion, and he was no stranger to giving anyone in the other lane a challenge with many trophies and titles to prove it. Some of the fastest (and loudest) sleds to make passes on many drag strips and lakes came out of Ron's stable. Both Heath and Nichole shared in Ron's passion for racing. Many Sundays were spent at Esta Drag Park, with his family evolving from Jr. Dragsters to Alsphalt Sleds. In the off season and rainy days, Ron spent his time with his kids riding ATVs and enjoying campfires in the woods. Ron was also a proud US Army Veteran, and had a remarkable love for his country only second to the love he had for his children and grandchildren.
On February 2nd, 2022 the Smith Family suffered a tragedy that no family wants to endure. Ron had suffered a major heart attack in his home. Ron fought like the soldier he truly was for 38 days. If you knew Ron, you know that this is exactly the man that he was, a fighter. Ron's courageous fight came to an end on March 11, 2022. We can't imagine a world without Ron, but one thing is for sure; Heaven just got a little faster.
The tragedy has left behind expenses that have to be covered out of pocket by the Smith Family, including all funeral, burial and medical expenses, as well as some others. This is a time for a family to grieve the loss of their patriarch and should not have to worry about expenses. The Smith family has been there for so many people in our community. Please help return the favor by donating anything you can to this campaign. It is much appreciated.
