Donation protected
Dear Friends and Community Members,
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of Mohamed Yusuf Abdullahi, a beloved member of Winnipeg’s African soccer community. Mohamed, only 22 years old, was fatally shot in what police believe was a targeted attack outside the Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex on Saturday night. He had just finished playing for Team Eritrea in the Canada African Cup of Nations 2024 tournament, a moment that was supposed to be filled with joy and camaraderie.
Mohamed was a young man full of promise, loved by all who knew him. His untimely death has left his family, friends, and the entire community in shock and grief. As we struggle to come to terms with this senseless act of violence, we are reaching out for your support to help cover the funeral costs and memorial service for Mohamed.
