Funeral arrangements for Debi Gilmore.

On August 16, my mother was diagnosed with a large aggressive tumor growing within the left side of her chest. By the time it was discovered, it was already too late. The mass had grown large enough to break three of her ribs and was putting pressure on her heart, causing arrhythmia. She was put on hospice care. She declined very quickly and despite our efforts, she passed away on September 2, 2024, at 4:39 pm.

We are deeply saddened and still kind of in shock; it happened so quickly. We weren’t ready to say goodbye, but are so thankful we had the opportunity to spend time with her before she passed.

Several years ago, Momma purchased a grave marker stone and the ground space at the cemetery along with groundskeeper fees; however, that’s the only portion of her final wishes that is paid for. The separate costs of the remaining funeral home services (transportation, embalming, casket, etc.) were not covered by her purchase, and she has no life insurance policies or any other funds to cover funeral expenses.

Her husband (my dad) is also a resident in the nursing home and does not have the funds to pay for the burial and services. My sister and I have contributed what we can, but we are unable to come up with the full amount to proceed with the funeral. Full payment is required upfront. Getting a personal loan is not an option at this point. Since we’ve been asked by several people about ways they can help, we decided to set up a GoFundMe account so that our families and friends may send monetary donations towards funeral expenses in lieu of flowers. Any donations received will be used towards the funeral, which is being handled by Coplin Funeral Home in Park Hills. My mother deserves a proper farewell. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
