Story telling has always been a notable part of family life. Some stories touch our hearts and some touch our souls. Families share their wonderful and unique experiences and not just with one another but passed down from one generation to the next. Author Diane Schoemperlen once said that the world, the human world is bound together not by protons and electrons, but by stories. Families share stories to laugh, cry, to form a bond and to strengthen its unity. Families should never have to pass down stories of tragedies or stories of children who have witnessed a tragedy. This is that type of story. It is a story of tragedy that has forever broken a family and left the children to live a life without the one person whose lot in life was to give them unconditional love.

Cristina Garcia was a beautiful, kind, and loving mother of two when tragedy struck on that horrific morning of September 4, 2022. Cristina was brutally beaten, stomped, stabbed repeatedly, and left for dead by her husband and the father of her children. It wasn’t enough that he murdered her; the news reported he doused the home with gasoline, knowing the children were still inside. Cristina’s young son Malik, was the brave little soul who called 911 hoping someone would get there in time to save her. Cristina did not survive. Malik and his baby sister Sama are now left with the unspeakable memory of their mother’s last day of life. The extended family of brave little Malik and baby Sama are reaching out to you, the community. The family is putting together this GoFundMe to help them. The goal is to pay for current expenses of funeral services, costs of bringing their momma home to Yakima, Wa and setting up a small trust to help with any of their future costs.
