This Fundraiser is for Up coming Funeral Expenses for April Lawrence Walters
She is currently in MICU at UMMC on Life Support , We were called in for a Family meeting yesterday with a Big decision to make, Our decision will be carried out on Monday February 7th.
She does not have Burial Insurance nor does Our Family have the resources to give her the Funeral that she deserves
For anyone who does not know April's journey began in 1969 she was born at Monfort Jones Memorial Hospital shortly after she was transported by our Father and two of his sisters to the Children's hospital at UMMC where she was diagnosed with Spinal Bifida, Paralyzed from her waist down, where our parents were not given much hope of her survival, as a baby there were numerous surgeries and Dr visits. Her home seemed to be at Blair E Batson where with every new milestone our parents were given a gloom outlook for her Life
My Mother's family were devout Pentecostal , between those hospital stays and visits, Our mother and Grandmother traveled all over with April taking her to different churches, Pastors, Tent Revivals, Anywhere people believed in the power of prayer, Our first Miracle came to us when she was very young, she was also born with what they called a water head, meaning to control the amount of fluid on her brain a shunt would have to be placed in her head, when surgery time came it was not needed, there were no signs of the fluid and has never been a issue.
In her life she grew to be a beautiful, normal human being, Only difference in her and us was the fact her legs wouldn't work, She never needed assistance with any of her day to day life needs or care, she was very independent.
In 1987 she Graduated Carthage High School , In the Fall she attended East Central Community College where she was a full-time student living on campus , no assistance needed, she didn't mind letting people know that either !
It was there that she met her First Husband , together they had a son, Jamie, Another Miracle, Before long things went south and she found herself raising a baby on her own, Never being discouraged in there daily needs she provided full care for herself and Jamie.
As soon as it was possible she returned to College at Holmes Jr Community College where she graduated with a Medical billing and coding degree, it was during that time that she reconnected with a long time friend that quickly became the love of her life, Christopher Craig Nail, He to had the same disabilites and drive that she had, Together they became a family settling in Kosciusko where they made there home and raised their son, Jamie
They now have 3 Grands who are there pride and joy, (Lily, Landon and Lindale)a testimony to there lives.
Life was never easy for them for there were numerous illnesses, surgeries complications with there health but when things seemed they would have a bad outcome they Always fought their way back to each other.
Here we are today, April 53 years from where it all began, her frail little body tired and weak her fight has been won, her journey has been long .
She touched every life she incountered along the way, her story, her courage such a inspiration to us all, I hope she will continue to inspire people that when you think you can not go on any longer you know that there were and are people on this earth who have had lives a 1000 times hardier than you will ever have that never gave up,
From a tiny little baby who overcome the odds and one by one proved every Dr wrong along her Journey she is a True Inspiration !!!
I hope that Our Family and Friends will find it in your Hearts to Give what you can for our Precious Girl to have the ceremony that she so deserves.
No amount is to small and Every donation will be Greatly Appreciated
Fly High Our Beautiful Girl, your battle on Earth is done , For the first time in your life there are No Restrictions, No Sickness or Pain, You are Truly Healed
The Lawrence Family
