Funeral Expenses for Debra Akers

Donation protected
If you knew my Aunt Debbie (Debra Akers) you already know what a kind, loving, forgiving, generous, and funny person she was. She loved to travel and very much enjoyed being a nurse for many years. Over the last several years, she has been fighting an incredibly painful and difficult cancer journey. She has been so strong and brave and kept waging that battle. She wanted so much to beat it. She loved life and her family, especially her grandbabies, and didn’t want to miss a moment.

On Sunday, March 3, 2024, Debbie was being transferred from our local hospital in Eastern KY to UK's Chandler Medical Center when the ambulance was involved in a horrific single-vehicle accident on the Mountain Parkway. She did not survive that accident, and we lost that beautiful soul.

We are all completely devastated by this loss. In addition to this loss, her children are facing a financial burden as Debbie passed without life/burial insurance. Several kind and generous people have asked the family how they could help. I was asked to create this fundraiser to provide a way for folks to contribute to her funeral expenses.

Please consider donating as a way to honor her life and memory. Any amount is appreciated and prayers are coveted.

You can also contribute by giving directly to Bailey's Funeral Home. in Elkhorn City, KY.
