Medical Expenses For Family of Sgt. Daniel Mobley
On Saturday January 2nd, 2021 at approximately 9:00am I was in Atlanta traveling to the airport with a group of my two close friends from college to head back home to Cleveland. While almost to the airport we witnessed a devastating accident. Twenty-two year Veteran, Sgt. Daniel Mobley of the Dekalb County Police Department was assisting a fellow partner with a traffic accident on the freeway when he was suddenly struck by what seemed to be a distracted driver. While on the line of duty protecting the great state of Georgia, Mobley was pronounced dead. He was a decorated Sgt. and carries a long list of accolades in his heroic career with the Dekalb County Police Department. Daniel Mobley is survived by his son. As a son of a twenty-nine year veteran Sgt. David Reese of the Urbana Police Department, this traumatic event hit close to home for me. I decided to create this gofundme in order to raise money for the family of Daniel Mobley to help go toward the cost of funeral services. The average cost of a funeral in the state of Georgia is $4,500. Our goal for this gofundme is $10,000 to pass along to the family of Daniel Mobley. When the time is right I plan to reach out to the Dekalb County Police Department and get in contact with someone that can connect me with the family of Daniel Mobley to gather the contact information for the family to pass along the donation we come up with.
To the son of the heroic twenty-two year Veteran, Sgt. Daniel Mobley of the Dekalb County Police Department my heart goes to you as you morn the loss of someone who I can imagine was your hero. You are not only in my thoughts but in my heart. I hope one day down the road you can tell me about the legacy of your father. I hope the donation we come up with, large or small can offer a helping hand. I don't know your father Daniel Mobley but I do my father. A man who in my 25 years of living has been my hero through and through because the man he is and what he stands for as a decorated officer of the law. In the research I've done about your father Daniel Mobley, I've gathered the conclusion he is a hero that dedicated his life to protect and serve. I can't begin to fathom the overwhelming pain the you are experiencing. I know money can't bring back this hero, but I hope it can help you during these trying times, stay strong.
Any donations are appreciated, large or small. Let's help the family of the "Guardian Angel" Sgt. Daniel Mobley who risked his life for Georgia citizens. If you can't donate, then make a promise to your self to be an advocate for distracted driving and please keep your eyes on the road, and your hands on the wheel so we can keep heroes like Daniel Mobley on this planet a little longer. Law Enforcement officers are people too, believe in the good ones that we are lucky enough to have out there protecting us in this amazing country we have the privilege of living in. Will smith once said "Love. Time. Death. Now these three abstractions connect every single human being on Earth. Everything that we covet, everything that we fear not having, everything that we ultimately end up buying is because at the end of the day we long for love, we wish we had more time, and we fear death.' Now I know we all have made mistakes and have been cruel, at least I know have. Although this is true, one another thing that is true is most of still have one thing you can't get back, and that my friends is time. Don't waste it. Live your life life to the fullest every day and hug the ones you love because we don't know much time we have left, cherish it. Smile more, laugh more, and let go of the hate. Chase your dreams and have no regrets. Twenty-two year Veteran, Sgt. Daniel Mobley of the Dekalb County Police Department, rest in peace.

*UPDATE*
I spoke with Sgt. Mobley’s mother-in-law Sue this evening. Daniel has a 12 year old boy named Eric. Eric was born with special needs. The Dekalb County Police Department will be covering the funeral, therefore we will be dedicating all of the money to Eric as he requires special medical equipment because of his special needs.
It wasn’t an easy conversation to have, Sue was overwhelmed with emotion and gratitude to each and every one of you who have put the family in your hearts. She was incredibly touched to see the donations we have all have made.
Thank you to officer Larry Westmoreland of the Dekalb County Police Department for getting us in touch with Sue.
