Funeral Expenses for Gary Winkle

On the night of Sunday, October 8, 2023, Gary Winkle, my father-in-law, had a heart attack and died in his sleep after a years-long battle with a heart condition.

Gary meant a lot to our family. He was the closest thing Zach had to a dad, and Gary welcomed me with open arms into the family when we first met. Whenever anyone needed support or a shoulder to lean on, he was there helping in whatever way he could, whether it was a gruff word of solidarity, handing you a newspaper clip that made him think of you, or saving you a seat to mutter at the NASCAR race with him. Behind his stoic demeanor was someone who worked hard to provide for his family and for all the kittens that happened into his yard. He was a man of few words but a solid, steadfast presence, and we are all missing him greatly.

We ask that if you are able, to please make a donation to help our families cover his funeral expenses. If you wish to offer condolences in person, there will be a service at Connell Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 13, 2023 from 4 - 6 pm.
