Funeral Expenses for Imelda Vazquez

 Imelda Vasquez passed away while being transported back to America. She was an abroad student in South Korea and was originally from Laredo, Texas where she was attending Texas A&M international University as a senior . Unfortunately, while studying abroad she was rushed to the ICU at St Mary’s University Hospital in South Korea due to organ failure. She was scheduled to be transported back to the United States with the money that I had raised in the previous Go Fund me account. I want everyone to know that Imelda’s story will not end this way. We are here to be her voice, I want everyone to know that the abroad insurance and the hospital were requesting 50,000 dollars in order to release her back to the United States. Texas A&M International University was refusing to help the family with the medical expenses. Precious time was wasted while all of this was happening!! Imelda’s life was deteriorating when finally the university agreed to pay, it was to late. Imelda was on her last days. I need everyone to know this was not supposed to happen, she had a chance to live, but it was taken from her. All because it was money in exchange for a life ! Here in America, we don’t turn down foreigners and we don’t hold people hostage in a hospital in exchange for money!  Imelda  isn’t here to tell her story, but I am since my daughter studied abroad with her. As a parent, I want everyone to know that her life mattered and unfortunately, TAMIU,  her abroad insurance and the hospital in Korea thought otherwise. 

Now her family will be attending her funeral -and not her graduation.
It’s unfortunate that this had to happen, she deserved a second chance!
Imelda did her part she was a good daughter, Sister ,student ,aunt and a good friend.
So if she did her part, why didn’t the university do theirs?
