"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
~Romans 8:28.

This GoFundMe has been created in honor of this incredible man, Jack Reichenbach, who was called home today to be with the Lord. Jack was  the patriarch of his family.  He was a loving husband, caring father, and doting grandpa. He was a native of Jacksonville, and he married the love of his life, Sue, on June 19, 1958.  Together they built an incredible life on a foundation of God and full of love and happiness that spanned 60 years, just shy of their 61st wedding anniversary.  Jack was always ready with kind words, funny stories, and sound advice. To know him was to truly love him.

Jack was a devoted Christian and man of God and loved to serve.  He was a Deacon for many years and performed duties as a Gideon.

Jack had been recently diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, a neurodegenerative disorder, which caused him issues with simple tasks like balance and speech.  He suffered a fall in his home in the early morning hours of April 28th.  Two days later he was transported to the hospital due to developing symptoms and was discovered to have a large brain bleed, which was successfully treated with emergent surgery.  In the next day and a half following surgery, Jack was doing well and was expected to be sent to Brooks Rehab within a few days.

However, his condition unexpectedly began to deteriorate as he started to become lethargic and unresponsive. A staph infection was discovered and treatment began.  He then began to develop seizure activity and was also put on oxygen.

Over the course of the next week and a half, Jack's condition was up and down. On his good days he was responsive and his personality would shine through despite his condition.  On his bad days he was very unresponsive.  Yesterday, the day before his passing, he was doing as well as he had done since his condition had begun to get worse.  His infection was gone and he was finally off oxygen. Things were looking up and it seemed like the scariest days had perhaps gone by.

Sadly, early on Saturday morning the family was contacted by the hospital with the news that Jack's condition was very quickly declining. The decision was made to make Jack comfortable with medications and allow him to depart this world when he was ready.  He passed a few hours later.

Jack and Sue were lifelong business owners here in Jacksonville, first with their fuel oil business and then with real estate.  A tanking economy and dwindling real estate market led to the void of life insurance for Jack and Sue, and the purpose of this campaign is to hopefully raise funds for a proper service for a humble man who led a life of kindness, honor, and love.
