Funeral expenses for Jared & Anna Leigh Skinner

At times, there are no words, and this feels one of them.

Our dear friends, Jared & Anna Leigh Skinner, have been on vacation in Alabama with their five children and extended family. Yesterday, July 31st, 2022, marked tragedy in their life. The day which began with birthday celebrations of many cousins ended with heart-wrenching loss when their daughter, Lydia, drowned.

Unknowingly, Lydia slipped out of the house and into the nearby lake. CPR immediately began, she was rushed to the hospital, but as the Lord is indeed the author and giver of life, He determined her days on this earth to be complete. Lydia Anne Skinner met her Maker.

Jared and Anna Leigh's faith is tethered to the cross, and their first words praised the Lord through profound loss. Now, decisions parents should never have to make must be made...and many of these decisions encounter significant expenses. When arriving with five children, Jared and Anna Leigh must now travel home with four and bury their daughter.

Jared, a graduate of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and current Ph.D. student, has served as the senior pastor of Plainfield Baptist Church for the last five years. Anna Leigh was a kindergarten teacher for many years, now at home full-time with her children.

We grieve with Jared and Anna Leigh and their four boys, and yet we do not grieve without hope. We long for the day that death is swallowed forever. As I Corinthians 15:55-56 declares:

"When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:

“Death is swallowed up in victory.”

“O death, where is your victory?

O death, where is your sting?”

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
